Josh on Happyland: Episode 4

How Josh Met New Girlfriend Kat Dennings

It took 2 Broke Girls and one Twitter flirtation to get Kat Dennings and Josh Groban together.

The new couple were first introduced by Dennings’s costar, Beth Behrs, she revealed on Tuesday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

She’s always talked about how great he is and they’ve been friends for years, and she thought we were both, you know, nerds,” Dennings said. “So there, she was right.

But Dennings, 28, did get to know Groban, 33, through social media before they ever met in person.

He’s very witty on the Twitter, and I saw his little Tweets sometimes,” she explained, giggling.

The actress and musician first stepped out together Oct. 11 at the Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills. Still, Dennings admitted she’s crushing on a certain well-endowed guest star from her CBS comedy: Kim Kardashian.

“I am feminism, girl power, but I was just so in love with her a–,” she gushed. “It’s beautiful! She’s gorgeous. It’s just amazing. I’ve never seen an a– like that in my life.”

Josh to appear on ‘A Starry Evening of Music, Comedy & Surprises’

A flock of big-name, big-heart celebrities – including Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Josh Groban, Randy Newman, Jack Nicholson, Renee Zellweger and Bonnie Raitt – whooshes into Davies Symphony Hall on Monday for “A Starry Evening of Music, Comedy & Surprises.”

The invitation list includes local tech stars, too. Jack Dorsey (Twitter and Square) and Sean Parker (Napster and Facebook) are on the event committee, along with more familiar names: Montana, Wilsey, Newsom, Traina and Baer.

The evening is a benefit for the Painted Turtle, a camp for sick kids; the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, which cares for sick kids; and the Teddy Bear Rescue Fund, which helps the families of sick kids.

Everything about all that – the healthy raising money for the sick, the haves raising money for the have-nots, the bold-faced celebrities raising money for the publicly nameless – is noble and grand. But before the tree, there comes the seed: the marriage of co-producer and celebrity-wrangler Lou Adler and Page Hannah Adler, the woman who dreamed up the camp 17 years ago.

Lou Adler, record producer, artist manager, director, theater owner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, is in the notoriously tough music business. This year’s show will include campers performing with the pros, and every one of those pros is a volunteer. “Nobody asks if they’re going on first,” Lou Adler said at a recent cocktail party benefit pitch at Ann and Gordon Getty’s Pacific Heights home.

The Painted Turtle, worlds away in Lake Hughes (Los Angeles County), is free for the 2,400 children and family members who use it each year.

Groban Happy To See Music ‘Get Its Due’ At Oscars

This year at the Oscars, musical performances played a large role, and opera singer Josh Groban, one of many celebs attending the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar-viewing party, couldn’t have been more excited to see music get the recognition it deserves from the iconic awards show.

“I’m glad that they’re actually putting a focus on making sure the song category gets it’s due,” said Groban, 33. “When I had a song that was nominated, it was kind of an afterthought… But music is a huge part of film. As a fellow musician I’m glad that they’re using that as a big part of it this year.”

Groban’s Believe, which he performed and which was written by Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri, was nominated for Best Original Song at the 77th Academy Awards in 2005 for its use in the film The Polar Express. Groban performed the song live with Beyonce during the show.
